Family separation is far more common than acknowledged, and the drivers behind it show no sign of reversing:

• More than 5 million UK adults regularly work away from home or travel internationally for work

• An estimated one in four UK armed forces families live apart during the working week, rising to over one in three in the Naval Services 

• One in four children lives in a single-parent household, frequently with a non-resident parent hours or continents away

• Grandparents, central to early reading development in many families, are increasingly geographically distant from grandchildren.

The need extends beyond the home. Shared reading is one of the most evidence-backed literacy interventions used in primary and elementary classrooms across the UK and US. And for employers, family separation is a documented driver of stress, reduced productivity, and attrition.

Our consumer app is built on a proprietary AI infrastructure layer for deep natural language understanding, capabilities that general-purpose language models don't offer: tracking characters across long-form narrative, resolving ambiguity, and modelling syntax and style at depth. It's the foundation our app runs on, and it's a licensable asset in its own right, with applications across education, publishing, and accessibility.
